As you probably guessed, I see a lot of websites – good, bad and indifferent.

 

But  there’s one type of site that really, really get’s my blood boiling

 

It’s on the site that when you try and click off, you get a damnable window appearing asking if you really, really want to say goodbye.

 

Now that’s bad enough – but this miserable tactic goes one further: You can no longer exit through the browser!

 

You MUST go through the info-window that came out of nowhere.

 

I don’t know about you, but once I see that ploy – that company has about as much chance of selling me as a politician has of turning down a campaign contribution.

 

Namely: None!

 

Think of it this way.

 

You enter a clothing store, do some browsing, and then decide to leave. But before you can make it to the exit, a big, burly salesperson appears and asks you if you might not want to think it over.

 

You say no, then upon reaching the front door, you find it barred and locked.

 

The ONLY way to exit is to ask the bouncer for the keys.

 

You’ve been essentially kidnapped.

 

That’s what these info-windows are doing.

 

If you, gentle reader, do use this on your website – GET RID OF IT ASAP.
